Tennessee Wesleyan University Increases TWU Pledge

Free TWUition graphicTennessee Wesleyan University announced the launch of the TWU Pledge in the Fall of 2023 as an effort improve access and affordability to students in the State of Tennessee. Due to the overwhelming success of the program, the criteria have been expanded to further serve those in our region.

“Last year, we saw first-hand how impactful this program can be for those who did not think a college education would be affordable,” said Dr. Tyler Forrest, TWU President. “This year, for new students enrolling for the Fall 2025 term, we increased the family adjusted gross income threshold to $50,000, a significant increase from last year and most importantly, further making a college education at a top-tier, private institution within reach for more Tennesseans.”

The TWU Pledge allows HOPE Scholarship eligible first year students with a family adjusted gross income of $50,000 or less to attend Tennessee Wesleyan University tuition free.

Tennessee Wesleyan consistently ranks high among many college and university ranking agencies, often with a cost of attendance well below other regional private and public universities. The TWU Pledge, for those meeting the criteria, will make Tennessee Wesleyan an even better option as students consider their post-secondary education objectives.

The criteria are quite simple to be eligible for the TWU Pledge.

  • Student must be an incoming first year student; transfer students do not qualify.
  • Student must be a resident of Tennessee with at least a 3.0 GPA or twenty-one on the ACT.
  • Student must receive more than the minimum Pell threshold.
  • Household adjusted gross income must be $50,000 or less (based on 2022 tax return)
  • Student must complete the FAFSA by April 15, 2025.
