Diana White became the first student to graduate from Tennessee Wesleyan’s Honors Program this past spring.
“My time in the Honors Program was the highlight of my college experience. In every way Tennessee Wesleyan was good to me, the Honors Program was great,” said White.
The Honors Program at Tennessee Wesleyan University, in the best tradition of the liberal arts, prepares students to transform their educational experience to live out a positive role in the global community.
When asked about how her experience was, White had this to say:
“The students are immediately welcoming, hilarious, and kind. They work hard in their academics, sports, and club, and it shows. However, for every bit of work they put into school, they put even more love into the people around them. For every time I doubted my intelligence, they were there to remind me not only that I was smart, but loved and included. The professors only added to the feeling that this group was like family. They work hard to teach you and learn from you, but you can feel how much they love this group beyond academics.
As for my actual experience during class and meet-ups, I learned lots of things about citizenship and community, I left with many more questions, and I laughed endlessly at our constant stream of jokes and jabs. For every way I was challenged in an exciting way in academics, I was supported and encouraged. I could not recommend the Honors program enough for anyone ready for a challenge and a second family. “
The Honors Program faculty consists of Dr. Augustin Bocco, Dr. Ana Barrios, Dr. Alex Thompson, Dr. Jack Seitz, Dr. William Murray, and is chaired by Dr. Chris Schutz.
