TWU Welcomes Veterans!
You will be supported from the beginning of your TWU journey by a dedicated military staff member. You will also have an affordability team around you to help you discover all of your eligible benefits. Benefits don’t end at affordability, we want to ensure that you have an experience that will prepare you for civilian life. Here you’ll find a supportive environment where your previous experience is valued and welcomed.
The Athens, TN community is also supportive and has an active Veterans presence. There is a local Veteran Services Office and a VA clinic minutes from campus.
Veterans Affairs Benefits
As a Veteran, you may qualify for numerous VA benefits. We are here to work with you and help you identify your eligibility. We understand there are questions that come up during the education search process – that’s why we have a dedicated VA coordinator on campus to help you. Should you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out the Office of Veterans’ Affairs. Various chapters of the GI Bill® are accepted here. TWU is also active in the Yellow Ribbon program. With the Yellow Ribbon program, you are qualified for funds outside of your GI Bill entitlement and these will not be charged to your allotment. TWU’s VA coordinator and registrar are both here to help you navigate the specific details. External funding opportunities are also accepted through tuition assistance. Programs like the Tennessee Strong Act and the Reserves Tuition Assistance. TWU supports the Tennessee Strong Act with our Wesleyan Strong Scholarship. For more information on how you may qualify for this scholarship, contact the financial aid office.
