Tennessee Wesleyan University recently landed at No.5 in the state of Tennessee inWalletHub’s 2023 College Ranking: Best Colleges & Universities list.

In developing their ranking system, WalletHub aimed to determine high performing schools at lowest possible cost. They compared 900 higher education institutions according to 30 key measures, including things like student-faculty ratio, graduation rate, and post-attendance median salary.

In addition to being named No.5 in the state of Tennessee, TWU came in at No.49 in the South Region, and No.218 nationwide, in the 76^th percentile nationally among universities on the list.

“Tennessee Wesleyan University is an outstanding institution,” said TWU President Dr. Tyler Forrest. “Our team was particularly excited to learn that WalletHub.com has recognized us as one of the top five four-year campuses in the state of Tennessee.”

The 30 key metrics previously mentioned feed into seven category rankings which determine overall placement on the list. The seven categories include Student Selectivity, Cost & Financing, Faculty Resources, Campus Safety, Campus Experience, Education Outcomes, and Career Outcomes. Tennessee Wesleyan’s most significant national rankings came in Cost & Financing (No.127) and Faculty Resources (No.168).

“We are fortunate to have excellent academic programs, a nationally-recognized NAIA athletics program, and most importantly, outstanding students that continue to excel both in and out of the classroom,” added Dr. Forrest. “The rankings specifically identified our affordability as well, which makes us accessible to students throughout the state and region that we serve.”

The No.49 ranking in the South Region includes the states of Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, Virginia, Kentucky, Arkansas, South Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, and West Virginia.
