TWU students have access to on campus and TWU-provided health and wellness services for any medical needs, mental health or counseling needs, suicide prevention and more.

Medical Services

TWU Partners with Fast Pace Health for Enhanced Medical Care
Beginning August 1, 2024, TWU will partner with Fast Pace Health to provide medical care and assistance for minor illnesses and injuries. This partnership aims to ensure students have access to essential healthcare services.

Range of Health Services Available
Fast Pace Health will offer a variety of services, including:
• Wellness and Preventative Care: Regular check-ups and health advice.
• Disease Management: Care for conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes.
• Women’s Health: Annual exams, birth control, and more.
• Men’s Health: Comprehensive care tailored for men.
• Physicals: Clearances for sports, school, or work.
• Lab Work: Laboratory tests.
• Routine X-rays: Imaging services.
• Immunizations: Vaccines for flu, pneumonia, allergies, and tetanus.
• Health Screenings & Testing: Early detection for better health management.

Behavioral Health Services
Fast Pace Health also provides behavioral health services to support students with:
• Depression
• Anxiety
• ADHD
• PTSD
• Other psychiatric disorders
Each student will receive a personalized treatment plan based on their unique needs. Please note: These services are for short-term care.

Locations and Hours
Students can visit the Fast Pace Health office in Athens (1019 Decatur Pike) or any of their 250+ locations. Please bring your current TWU ID and another government-issued ID (driver’s license or passport). These services are available to full-time TWU students.

Walk-In Hours:
• Monday-Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
• Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
• Sunday: 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Additional Services and Insurance
For services not covered under the TWU and Fast Pace Health agreement, students will be responsible for the cost. Fast Pace Health accepts most insurances for these additional services.

Crisis Support
If you or someone you know is in crisis, please call the National Suicide Hotline at 988. Your mental health and safety are our top priority.

Starr Regional Medical Center is located minutes from campus. They provide urgent care services including 24-hour Emergency Room facilities. To learn more call Starr Regional at (423) 745-1411.

Counseling Services

The years you spend in college will be some of the most formative of your life, filled with exciting and scary changes. You will learn how to balance work with a social life, form new and closer relationships, develop personal and career goals, and gain your independence.

Tennessee Wesleyan provides its students with a variety of options to fit the students’ health and wellness needs. Depending on your needs, you may meet individually with the Vice President of student Life or the Chaplain. Additionally, students are able to utilize free services provided by our partners at TELUS

Students may contact the Student Life Office at 423-746-5216 or look at the TWU app under Health and Wellness to find the TELUS link and make an appointment.

TWU Suicide Prevention Plan

Tennessee Wesleyan University is committed to the mental health wellness of our students, faculty and staff. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for college students. Approximately 1,100 college students die by suicide each year 6% of college students report that they have seriously considered suicide over the past year; 90% of those students created a suicide plan, 14% attempted suicide, and 60% continued to have thoughts of suicide according to www.tspn.org. Thunder Fitness Center
