Join us for a fresh look at the Battle of Athens!

On the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Athens, a new documentary invites the community to reflect on one of the most defining moments in local and state history. Mark your calendars for Thursday, August 27th, at 6:00 P.M. for a special presentation by Steve Byrum on the Battle of Athens in Townsend Auditorium. Through preserved oral histories, archival film and photography, newspaper accounts, and newly digitized records, this film brings together decades of research to present a thoughtful and historically grounded account of the events leading up to August 1, 1946, the conflict that unfolded in the streets of Athens, and the subsequent reforms that followed.
