Tennessee Wesleyan University Scholarships

HOPE Scholarship

The HOPE Scholarship is established and funded from the net proceeds of the state lottery and awarded to entering freshmen who are enrolled at an eligible postsecondary institution within sixteen (16) months after graduating from a TN eligible high school.

Neff Award – Full Tuition*

Two awards given each year. Requirements are 3.75 GPA, at least 30 ACT, and application. Applications must be received by January 1. Contact Admissions for an application.

TWU Freshman Merit Awards – $9,000-$17,000

Incoming freshmen based on GPA and ACT scores. Check out the True Cost Calculator to see your estimated merit award.

TWU Transfer Merit Awards – $5,000-$16,000

Transfers based on cumulative college transfer GPA. Check out the True Cost Calculator to see your estimated merit award.

Nursing/Dental Awards – $2,000-$14,000

Transfers based on cumulative college transfer GPA. Check out the True Cost Calculator to see your estimated merit award. (Students who enter as incoming freshman retain freshman merit award upon admission to Nursing or Dental Hygiene program)

PTK – $1,000

Available to transfer students who were members of Phi Theta Kappa at their community college.

Educational Partnership Award

Awarded to qualified new freshman who declare Education as their major. These students will get an additional $2,500 scholarship per year (total value $10,000) as long as they continue to be an Education major. The recipients must work with either the Education Department or a Community Partner 45 hours each semester (3 hours per week). 

To qualify, students must be a graduate from a high school in a primary or state approved partner with TWU. The student must be from:

1. An underrepresented racial/ethnic group -or-

2. Male -or-

3. Declaring an education major that is an identified high needs area.

The candidate must have an ACT composite score of 21 or SAT equivalent and a minimum high school GPA of 3.0.

Music scholarships – amounts vary

Awarded by the music department. Open to music majors, minors, or those who participate in a choir/ensemble.

Athletic – amounts vary

Awarded by athletic teams.

Distinguished Young Women – $1,000

Applicants have participated in the Distinguished Young Women competition.

Work Scholarship – amount varies

The need-based scholarship is earned by working a certain amount of hours in an on-campus office.

Qualifying is easy! Complete the admissions application and submit your transcripts and test scores for review. Upon admission to TWU, you’ll receive an award letter that outlines all the institutional aid you’ll receive and how much you will actually pay.

*Neff awards are last dollar tuition scholarships. The award will be added to any other scholarships or grants, totaling a full tuition award.
